My Eleven Year Old

Eleven years ago today, my heart burst with joy as I became a mother for the first time.  Words can't even begin to describe the happiness and love I felt for this not-so-little (8lbs 15oz) man.

He's always been fun to hang out with. . . his giggling is contagious and he enjoys making others laugh.

As I've watched him grow the last eleven years, it has been so enjoyable to see his interests, passions and personality unfold.  He's a lover of history. . . (the photo below is on a battlefield in Gettysburg)

a sports fanatic. . .

a passionate reader . .

and always open for adventure. (This is us getting caught in the rain, finding a geocache, on the streets of Gettysburg.)

He's an amazing big brother. . .

possesses a compassionate, sensitive heart. . .

and looks up to his father with wonderful admiration (which is one of my very favorite things to witness).

I'm so lucky to be his mom.  In parenting and loving him, I've learned lessons and grown in so many ways.  I'm thankful he loves God and am inspired and encouraged as I watch him learn what it means to serve the Lord.  I'm grateful today for HIS abundant blessing!

Memorial Day

Today we remember all those who have lost their lives in the Unites States Armed Forces.  Our family is so grateful for all the brave men and women who have sacrificed for our country.

We recently visited Washington D.C. and were thankful to see the many memorials as well as Arlington National Cemetery. . .

World War II Memorial

Vietnam Memorial

Arlington National Cemetery

May

The weather has finally turned here in Michigan and I am SOOOO GRATEFUL!!!  The sun has been shining, the grass has been growing...flowers are blooming - it's beautiful!!!

We are now

# EIGHT

We are excited about moving up the list but know it will most likely be several more months before we receive a referral.  Until then, we enjoy watching friends travel to meet their kids and bring them home. It helps the wait as we watch others go through the process ahead of us!!
